Bucketdeck app icon

The S3 browser for people
who live in buckets.

Browse, preview, share and restore files in Amazon S3, MinIO and other S3‑compatible storage, in a native Mac app that stays read-only until you allow changes.

Version 0.3.0 · Free and open source · macOS 26 or later · Signed and notarized

Live-tested with Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Garage, MinIO, RustFS and SeaweedFS

Bucketdeck in grid view: an outdoor brand's autumn campaign folder with photo and video thumbnails, and the Info panel showing the selected photo's S3 URI, size, ETag and dimensions.
A real Bucketdeck window, connected to a local Garage bucket of demo files.

The S3 jobs a web console makes slow.
A few clicks on your Mac.

Bring back the file someone deleted.

On a versioned bucket, Show Deleted Files lists what’s gone and Restore puts it back. Each file’s history opens in the Info panel, and Browse As Of shows a folder as it was on any date.

Show Deleted Files in a campaign folder: two deleted photos marked with a trash icon, and the Info panel showing the selected photo as deleted with its version history.

Send a link that expires on its own.

Create a presigned link that works for 15 minutes up to 7 days. It’s signed on your Mac, so no server sees your keys. Copy it, share it, or scan its QR code with your phone.

The Share Link sheet for a photo: a link that expires in one day, Copy Link and Share buttons, and a QR code for the link.

See what’s filling the bucket.

Storage Overview draws any bucket or folder as a treemap by size and kind, with its storage classes and largest files, so two weeks of database backups stand out at a glance.

Storage Overview of a whole bucket, 13.5 GB in 3,287 objects: a treemap of its folders with backups taking 76%, its storage class, and the largest files.

Check a local copy against S3.

Compare with Local Folder matches files by path, size and checksum, then updates S3 or your Mac with only what’s new or changed. Nothing is deleted on either side.

Compare with Local Folder: 17 files compared, filters for size differs, missing in S3, only in S3 and identical, and Update S3 and Update Mac buttons.

Real Bucketdeck windows, connected to local Garage and MinIO servers with demo files.

Amazon S3, and the S3 storage you run yourself.

  • Pick Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, DigitalOcean Spaces or Hetzner, and the endpoint fills in from your region.
  • Custom HTTP or HTTPS endpoints, with path-style or virtual-host addressing and your region.
  • Access keys with an optional session token, or a named AWS CLI profile, including roles and IAM Identity Center.
  • Open a bucket you know even when your key can't list every bucket, and start in any folder.

Compatibility details

Made for the Mac.
Not a web console in a window.

Bucketdeck uses SwiftUI and the macOS 26 look, and it works with the parts of macOS you already know.

List view up close: the campaign's photos, videos, ZIP and PDF with name, size, modified and kind columns, and the Info panel's preview, Download and Share buttons.

Read-only until you say so.

Every connection starts read-only. Uploads, moves, renames and deletes appear only after you turn on Allow changes for that connection, and Bucketdeck checks the setting again before each change.

How Bucketdeck handles your data

Free and open source.

Bucketdeck is licensed under the GNU GPL v3 and built in the open with Swift 6, SwiftUI and Soto. Every release is signed with a Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and published with its SHA-256 checksum.

Questions, answered.

Is Bucketdeck free?

Yes. Bucketdeck is free and open source under the GNU GPL v3. Every release is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Wasn’t this called OpenBucket?

Yes. OpenBucket was renamed Bucketdeck in version 0.3.0. Your connections and settings carry over, and the Homebrew cask openbucket now installs Bucketdeck.

Does it work with MinIO, Cloudflare R2 or Backblaze B2?

Browsing and changing files pass live tests on Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Garage, MinIO, RustFS and SeaweedFS. Backblaze B2, Wasabi, DigitalOcean Spaces and Hetzner Object Storage have ready-made endpoint settings, but none of those has a live test result yet.

Is it safe to connect to a production bucket?

Every connection starts read-only. Uploads, moves, renames and deletes only appear after you turn on Allow changes for that connection, and Compare with Local Folder never deletes files on either side.

Where are my access keys stored?

Access keys and session tokens you enter are stored in the macOS Keychain. You can also sign in with a named AWS CLI profile, including roles and IAM Identity Center after aws sso login.

Can I open a bucket my key can’t list?

Yes. Set Known bucket in the connection, and optionally a starting folder, to browse without permission to list every bucket in the account.

Does it mount buckets in Finder or sync them?

No. Bucketdeck is a browser: it doesn’t mount buckets or sync in the background. Compare with Local Folder updates S3 or your Mac once, when you ask.

Which Macs does it run on?

macOS 26 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Can I install it with Homebrew?

Yes. Run brew trust koative/tap once, then brew install --cask koative/tap/bucketdeck. The cask follows each new release.
